DANCE JAM, a weekly opportunity to dance at the Mind Body Studio in Lexington

Dance Jam offers dancing companionship in a space as relaxed as your living room, but larger and with a better floor. We dance to music from everywhere and every time: from Handel to the Pointer Sisters, Middle Eastern drum rhythms to Salsa, and much more. The Jam is for everyone who wants to move, regardless of training or ability.

MOVEMENT HOPS, premiering 2011

Think gallery hop, those wonderful events where you travel from one gallery to another in one evening, enjoying a variety of visual art, guided by a map of participating galleries. Movement Hops will create a similar map – of movement studios. In this case you can travel from one studio to another, and take free classes all day long, in Pilates, Feldenkrais, Yoga, Dance, and much more.

FLASHMOB AND FREEZE FRAME EVENTS

Flashmobs began in 2003 in Manhattan when a senior editor of Harpers Magazine staged a spontaneous event at Macy’s Department Store. Since then, YouTube has made the idea famous with such classics as the Antwerp Train Station Dance. Wikipedia says a flash mob is ‘a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual dance or pointless act for a brief time, then quickly disperse.’ Who knows where we’ll show up?
